Intelligent Fleet Care

::   FAQs    ::
Because every site has one...

Our site is brandy-new. We hope that you'll check back here often for new info.

(drumroll, please....)
Welcome to to Fleet Guardian, LLC!!!
Here's where we try to answer some of the most common questions you may have...
If you don't see your question here, by all means call us!
We can just as easily not answer it in person!

1. Do you fix trucks?

Yes, we fix trucks. Big trucks and little trucks. Cars, too.

"If it has wheels, we can fix it. And if it doesn't have wheels, we can put them on." -Doctor D, 2003

2. What can you do?

Just about anything you can think of.

We will go into more technical detail soon, but basically...

...we can care for any vehicle you can operate.
...we care for it from cradle to grave.
...we nurture it by performing all the scheduled preventive maintenances (PMs).
...we provide emergency care it when it experiences a sudden failure.

"If it has wheels, we can fix it. And if it doesn't have wheels, we can put them on." -Doctor D, 2003

3. Do you do general maintenance or just repairs?

Both.   However, our objective is to perform ALL OF YOUR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE ("PMs") so that your need for unplanned repairs is cut to a bare minimum.

:: A good PM program catches problems before they occur. ::

4
. Will you or do you just change the oil & filters?

We could. But we won't.

Anyone can do simple oil changes. Seriously. Quickie-style PMs are common, easily performed, and don't take that much training. Many quickie-style PMs consist of dropping (draining) the oil, spinning on (changing) new filters, and maybe greasing the chassis.

Would you go to a doctor who skips everything from your neck down during a complete physical?

Or a dentist who only checks for cavities on your upper teeth?

Or a car safety inspection that only checks your headlights?

Yeah....we wouldn't either.     So what's missing? Everything else.

Our PM services are performed by intelligent mechanics (each with a slew of certifications, one in the Automotive Hall of Fame). They will catch most problems before they occur.  This allows YOU to decide when YOU want to fix it.   It avoids the havoc created when a problem occurs in the middle of your already overbooked delivery schedule!

Most fleet managers know it is smart to lay a truck up for minor repairs while a driver is on vacation, the trucks are not running as hard or when scheduling allows some freedom. It is during these times that planned-for repairs can be easily scheduled.   Pending advisories can be addressed and the truck put back into service without disrupting your schedule.

Additionally, repairs made BEFORE a catastrophic failure are ALWAYS LESS EXPENSIVE.

Take the example of a loose, frayed or failing engine belt...imagine changing that belt when the only thing needed to correct it is a new belt.   Pretty simple job, eh?

Now look at that job again: this time the belt is ignored and it breaks...
it takes out the $800.00 radiator...
it macerates the $400.00 "special order" fan shroud (that lays the truck up for a week while you wait for it)...
the hood strut is damaged...
the engine overheats before the driver realizes it...
the engine head warps...
the piston cylinders get scuffed from high temperatures...

...yikes!

5
. What do you consider a "fleet"? I'm small potatoes...currently, I only have 1 vehicle. Can you help me?

Of course we can help you! We consider a "fleet" of vehicles even just "1" commercial vehicle...for instance, a pickup truck operated by a farmer, the "one" van used by an engineering firm or a delivery company with 1 car and 1 truck... for as many colors there are in a rainbow, there are as many types of fleets....

...our clients range from single vehicle operators to companies running 80+ units.

You are welcome here with 1 or 100 trucks.

6. You say "commercial" vehicle. Does my vehicle have to be registered commercially for you to work on it?

No! We'll work on any vehicle used for commercial purposes...it can have farmer, apportioned, no-fee, school bus (S1 & S2), constractor equipment-in-transit, solid waste disposal, constructor, omnibus, state (SG), county (CG), municipal (MG), state police (SP) or.... of course, commercial plates.
